I used lunacy to create a series of slides. I saved it and closed the file. Once I reopened the file, some of the images seemed to be missing. I checked the layers section to find that the images were there but they had somehow become blank. Please help.

Please try updating Lunacy to version 9.1, we couldn’t reproduce the issue there.

Totally agree, I have the identical problem. Now I have Lunacy 9.2, I hope this will not happen again. If I notice something again, I’ll let you know.
P.S: The problem occurred with any images, icons, pictures, all media.

Hate to say it, but it’s still happening in version 10.3 and 10.4 (just upgraded to it).
I open the file and see placeholders of photos that were previously imported. I can use CTRL+J and reload the photos back, and then save the file. Closing it and reopening it, and the photos are gone again. Some times one of the photos is there, some other time another photo is there, some times all photos are gone.
All photos are listed in the layers.
.free file size suggests that the photos’ information is there, just not rendering for some reason.
The preview on Lunacy home page shows the photos in their correct places.

Could you try to install the latest beta version of Lunacy, please? We made some fixes which might help you with this issue.
Here’s how you can do it:
Uninstall the old version before installing the new one. Once installed, enable beta updates: Help → About → 
Check for Beta Updates. Let me know if you are still experiencing those issues after updating!
Upgraded to 10.5.0.1205 Beta, and the test file I posted above still opens with missing photos. 
Update: reuploading the missing photos and saving the file, then reopening it still results in missing photos.
Update 2: I opened the files of the photos that were disappearing using photoshop, resaved them as PNG (they were JPG originally), and placed them into Lunacy. Saved as a new file. Closed. Reopened.
Now, the square photo is missing

Thanks for your patience! We haven’t been able to replicate this problem, and there are no reports from other users, so it appears that there is a problem with the file itself. One of the possible causes could be problems with the SSD or HDD.
Doubt it, because the file has been created on my home computer, and the bug occurs also on my work computer (Windows 10, same Lunacy version). So 2 different machines, same problem with the same
file…
Anyway, this may be a freak one-of-a-time problem, but if something similar happens again, I will report it here.

I’ve recently been experiencing this as well. It’s somewhat unpredictable, but occurs with some consistency across multiple files and multiple installations.
Happens on both my Windows 11 machine and my laptop running Fedora (40).
It seems to gradually worsen with affected files over time. E.G. One image will randomly not work, but reloading will fix. Then two images randomly. Then one image consistently. Then three images consistently.
I’m unable to intentionally reproduce the issue. But it never seems to happen with young files, only older ones that I’ve worked on for a while.

Could you share your logs when this issue appears next time? Meanwhile, we’ll double-check to see if we can figure this one out. It would be great if you could share one of the projects with this issue in the DMs too.
Hey, I’m having this issue as well. Nearly every time I open a file, many of the images are missing.
I’m working with locally saved projects, not cloud files.
Not sure how much this will help. I had to reinstall earlier today to work around an issue where condensed fonts were being replaced with full width weights.
edit to add details: The logs are from my windows 10 computer using version 10.6, but I’ve also been experiencing this issue on windows 11.

Considering the font problem, we’ll take a look at it if you provide a screencast reflecting your steps so we can try reproducing it.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
I’ll get logs and make a separate post about the font issue next time it happens. I haven’t noticed a strong pattern - but the font I’m using bc of our brand standards is Frutiger (so, for example, frutiger 77 black condensed turns into 75 black, overflowing text frames. The font picker still thinks it’s 77, and switching to a different font and back doesn’t fix it. )
